The Ridge at Blue Hills – This Place is Literally Garbage

Ridge at Blue Hills – A Review
My apologies to anyone trying to read this as it’s my first website so be gentle. The Ridge at Blue Hills apartment complex is located on 800 West St, Braintree MA 02184.
First, some disclaimers. This website/blog is not affiliated with The Ridge at Blue Hills apartment complex, its parent company (UDR Apartments) or any of its subsidiaries. This is merely a place for the airing of the grievances for one of its tenants.
By way of background, I started staying at the Ridge in October 2022. At first, my significant other and I thought the place was great, though expensive. We are both lucky to have gigs in and around Boston that allowed us to live somewhat close to our respective workplaces. However, there have been some changes lately that have caused us to look elsewhere for our living needs.
First off, it was fairly clear that the washer and dryer were picked from the junkyard. Yes, they still work fine, but not a great first impression.
Then the police came to one of my neighbor’s doors. There was a scuffle and police slammed someone against my door, scaring the bejeezus out of me. OK, isolated incident, no big whoop.
However, I started to see police drop by more and more… and that’s never a good sign. It culminated with an email I received while I was away on vacation, stating that there had been a break-in on Friday 1/12 and gunshots fired outside of our apartment on Sunday 1/14. The reason we know the shots were fired right outside of our apartment is we have a neighbor that was (unfortunately) home at the time.
We also have a massive trash problem here. The compactor gets full, and people have started leaving their garbage outside of the trash compactor. The fact that this hasn’t been dealt with ASAP speaks volumes about how UDR disrespects its tenants.
There is very little on-site presence from the apartment managers. They are only on-site now because they want to have everyone get new parking stickers (and are threatening tows for folks that don’t change them.) Meanwhile, Mount Garbage’s elevation climbs higher and higher.
You might be asking yourself, why don’t I just leave a Google review? GREAT QUESTION. Look at the Google reviews for Ridge at Blue Hills. Notice anything strange? I’ll give you a hint, you’re not going to see any 1/2/3 star reviews from prior to six months ago. I’m not sure what deal UDR struck with Google, but they’re suppressing unfavorable reviews. My significant other posted a review a few weeks back and I couldn’t find it when I searched under my account. However, when I posted a 5 star review (albeit with tongue firmly planted in cheek), it showed up to the outside world no problem. UDR obviously wants to suppress any negative reviews in lieu of solving the actual problems, and that doesn’t sit well with me at all.
In closing, you should stay as far away from Ridge at Blue Hills as you can. The garbage, crime, and apathy on the part of UDR are all reasons you should avoid this place like the plague. And given how much garbage is just left around, that plague is probably well on its way.
